1. Will additional lighting be used during construction?

No, work will be completed during daylight hours to reduce sensory disturbance to wildlife and the aquatic ecosystem. 

2. Will this work address odours from the lift station?

No,  there is no work planned on the lift station  on the north side of the Muskrat pedestrian bridge.  

3. Will you be cutting water supplies to the houses in the area?

There is no water disruptions planned in the area  due to this project. This project addresses the main line of the sanitary sewer system.

4. How much noise will this make?

Equipment will make ~ 90dB at 7 metres distance. Noise will be less at further distances. Every effort will be made to minimize noise, but heavy equipment will create noise when transporting and inserting the lining and then transporting rock and aggregate for the sewer pipe protection work in November.

5. Why are you closing the pedestrian bridge if you are not doing any work on it?

Heavy equipment operating in the immediate area with a swing radius that may overlap with the pedestrian bridge will cause a risk to public safety. As a result the bridge must be closed at times. Every effort will be made to minimize closure days.

6. Why is machinery permitted in the Bow River?

The machinery is cleaned and decontaminated before entering the water.  Rig mats that cover the ground are also used to minimize impact on the ground and banks. The Town of Banff is working with Parks Canada and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to ensure the work has as little impact as possible on the aquatic system and the riperian zone.
