Try-it Sports are a great way to get out and try a new sport or activity for free. All equipment and instruction is provided. All you have to do is register in advance.

Register online at Banff.ca/register, call 403.762.1251, or visit Banff Town Hall, 110 Bear Street.

Try Skating for Kids

Learn the basics of skating with a certified CanSkate coach. We’ll cover agility, balance and control. Dress in warm layers. Helmets and skates are available at no charge. For more info visit banffskatingclub.com. For Ages 3 – 9 and Ages 10 – 15.

Have some fun with Banff Minor Hockey coaches and learn some of the basic skills needed to play hockey. Volunteers will also be on hand to help get children dressed and ready to go on the ice. Ages 4 – 12. Gear available.

Try Yin Yoga

This class is for all ability levels. It features mostly traditional yin postures with some flow to help warm up our body. Whether it’s your first time or if you continue to deepen your practice, you will leave this class feeling relaxed and reconnected to your mind and breath. All levels welcome. Yoga mats and props are available for use. Ages 16+.

Try Sepak Takraw

This Southeast Asian game is played in many different countries and known by several different names, like kick volleyball. Players keep a ball airborne and pass from one team to the other over a net only using their feet, knees, chest or head to touch the ball. Ages 16+.

Try Pickleball

Learn how to play pickleball. This is a fun and exciting game played with a racquet and ball that is similar to badminton, tennis and table tennis. The game can be played with two opposing players or with two teams of two. Ages 16+.

Experience what it’s like to sweep the ice to get your rock into the house. Banff Curling Club instructors will be on hand to teach you what this sentence means and how to do it during this try-curling program.
