The Essential Local's Guide to Banff

The Fall/Winter season of Drop-in Classes & Sports begins September 9

Drop-in classes are a great, low-cost way to get active if you can't commit to a weekly class. 

Registration is not required. Drop-in rates apply unless otherwise noted. Schedules are subject to change. Classes and programs are not held on statutory holidays.

Updated dates and times are available on the online calendar.

Shinny: Co-Ed, Women’s and 40+
An informal game of hockey. Full gear is required.

Public Skating
Casual skating while listening to music. Helmets recommended. All Ages.

Sticks + Pucks
Parents will get to work with their kids on puck handling and shooting skills on the ice in an informal and safe environment. Helmets and gloves required. All Ages.

Parent and Tot Skate and Stroll
Enjoy a skate with your little ones napping in the stroller or skating by your side. Strollers, pylons, sleds and chairs are all permitted on the ice. All Ages.

Learn to Curl
The Banff Curling Club hosts a weekly drop-in Learn to Curl on Wednesday nights. Includes instruction and equipment. Cash only. Ages 18+. banffcurlingclub.ca.

Zumba®
A fusion of Latin and international music/dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, fun and easy-to-do workout. The aerobic/fitness interval training tone and sculpt the body. Ages 16+.

50+ Fitness
A fun fitness program that focuses on cardiovascular and muscular strengthening, core, and balance that ends with a stretch. Ages 50+.

Table Tennis
Grab a paddle and put your table tennis skills to the test. All abilities welcome. Equipment provided.

Yin Yoga
Featuring mostly traditional yin postures with some flow to help warm up our bodies. Great for beginners or those who want to deepen their practice. Leave relaxed and reconnected. Ages 16+.

Broga
Broga is vinyasa flow yoga for men and people who identify as men. This is a yoga practice that focuses on larger muscle groups such as hips, hamstrings and shoulders. Working on both strength and mobility through dynamic movement and stretching. All abilities welcome. Ages 16+.

50+ Dance
Learn a variety of dance styles and get active. Dance is a fun and easy way to get moving for all fitness levels. Bring a partner or come on your own. Ages 50+.

Flow Yoga
Flow Yoga is a traditional approach to yoga that encourages breathing, flexibility, strength and vitality in the body while calming the mind. All levels welcome. Ages 16+. There is no charge for this class.

Go with the Flow
Whether you are brand new to yoga or an avid practitioner, this class is for you. This mixed level flow yoga class will offer modifications for each pose so that all practitioners will be stimulated to the level of their own practice. Fluid movements will increase flexibility, strength and stamina, as it calms the mind and improves overall health, and personal wellness. All levels encouraged. Ages 16+

Sepak Takraw – or Kick Volleyball
This sport is a native sport to Southeast Asia. Played by two teams, a ball is volleyed back and forth over a net using only your feet, knees, chest or head. All levels welcome. Ages 16+.

Volleyball
All abilities welcome. Join a pickup game or practice your skills. Ages 16+

Badminton 
A sport played with racquets to hit a shuttlecock (or birdie) across a net. Can be played one-on-one or with doubles. Come alone or with a friend. 

Basketball
Bring a team or join one at the gym for a game of pickup basketball. All levels welcome. Ages 16+.

Pickleball
A paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. A whiffle ball is volleyed over a net to score points against your opponent. Can be played one-on-one or doubles. Ages 16+. Equipment provided.

Soccer (European Football)
Test your skills against other players and join us for a game of soccer. All abilities welcome. Ages 16+.

Drop-in Rates

Drop-in membership cards give you access to all drop-in sports, drop-in fitness classes and drop-in programs at The Fenlands. Membership cards are non-transferable and cannot be used for programs that require registration. Purchase them at Banff Town Hall, 110 Bear Street or The Fenlands, 100 Norquay Road and online.

Children aged 5 to 11: $4
Youth aged 12 to 17: $4.25
Adults aged 18 to 54: $6.50
Seniors aged 55 to 79: $5.50
Super Senior aged 80+: Free
Banff Access Program Cardholder**: Free
Family*: $15

*Family: up to 2 adults and their dependents residing in the same household.
**Banff Access Program Cardholder: To access program for free, stop by Banff Town Hall and show your Access Card and ID and ask for a Drop-in Membership Card. This is provided free of charge.
