Block paver installation expands south on Bear Street
Construction crews worked on block pavers this Saturday, making up some lost time due to rain and snow last week. Work focused on applying the polymeric sand to lock the blocks in place and seal the road in the central area.
Reconstruction continues next week with paver block installation, road base and grade shaping.
Roadbed work, grading and paver stone installation will occur all next week in front of the Three Bears Brewery, blocking access. Pavers will also be installed on the path running on the north side of the surface parking lot.
Work in front of the Townhouse Apartments building will finalize the road base. This will involve scarification (removal of the top road layer), testing, compaction and grading of the sidewalk areas. In addition, a concrete step will be constructed at the entrance to Cigars & Such, Perfect Image and the Townhouse Groceteria to bridge the higher grade of entrances for these businesses.
Front door access will be closed for these businesses throughout the week. Back alley entrance is available.
Road base work will continue the following week of May 31, with scarification, grading, compacting and gravel in front of Saltlik Banff, Home Hardware and Banff Poutine.
Also in the week of May 31 will see installation of paver stones in front of CMH, Acadia Lodge and Brewster Mountain Lodge.
The Wolf Street and Caribou Street intersections will remain closed to vehicular traffic until the end of the project in July. The closed off intersections will increasingly serve as laydown material and equipment.
