Energy efficiency funding, training available for Banff businesses
Businesses in Banff qualify for new programs to help save money and improve environmental protection through energy efficiency measures.
“The Town of Banff strives to become a model environmental community and relies on the business and residential community to help achieve goals for reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said the Town’s municipal energy coordinator, Sally Biddlecombe. “These new provincial and federal opportunities can make the difference for small- and medium-size businesses wanting to reduce energy costs while reducing their carbon footprint.”
Emissions Reduction Alberta has introduced a new Energy Savings for Business Program – a funding opportunity to help industrial and commercial operations reduce emissions, decrease operating costs and become more competitive.
Up to $250,000 is available per project to a maximum of $500,000 per company. Eligible projects include energy-efficient upgrades such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technologies, building automation, hot water systems, lighting upgrades and onsite electricity generation.
The Energy Savings for Business program opens on February 1, 2021. A program launch webinar is being held on February 2 at 1pm (MT), giving more information on who can apply and what kinds of projects are eligible. Register for the webinar here.
