Banff, AB – Have your say on the future of the Banff Recreation Grounds.
Three concept designs for a new, redeveloped recreation grounds will be on display at The Fenlands on Tuesday, September 30 from 6-9 p.m. This open house is your only opportunity to view the three concepts and give your feedback on your preferred option.
Your input will be used to help develop the final plan, which should be completed by the end of the year.
Creating a site specific plan for the recreation grounds was one of the recommendations in the Recreation Facilities Master Plan, which was adopted in November 2013. While the recreation grounds had originally been part of that plan, because it’s such a large area and an important park space to the community, it was determined it needed its own plan to guide its future.
Consultants ISL Engineering and Land Services, as well as RC Strategies, were hired to lead development of the plan and have been meeting with user groups, conducting online surveys, and surveying users on-site at the recreation grounds throughout the summer to gather input from individual park users.
The three concepts that will be shown at the open house represent all those public consultations and elements of the Recreation Facilities Master Plan.
“These three concepts show different ways we can better use the space at the recreation grounds and maximize use, not just in the summer, but in the winter as well,” said program coordinator Kim Coultis. “We’re really interested to see which concept residents like the most, and what amenities they’d like to see at the recreation grounds in the future.”
The consultants will give a formal presentation on the designs at 6:30 p.m. and again at 8 p.m.
