BANFF AB - The Banff Housing Corporation (BHC) announced today that it has acquired two parcels of land located at 338 and 340 Banff Avenue.
The purchase agreement is now unconditional and the registration is anticipated to occur at Alberta Land Titles prior to the end of December. The sale price of the land was $1,300,000.
In acquiring these lands, the BHC inherits the existing tenancy agreement, which will remain in effect for the near term. The BHC has no immediate re-development plans and is investigating what options are best suited for this parcel of land in order to meet the needs of the community, said Ladd Snowsell, BHC chair. “Opportunities to acquire land this close to the downtown core are rare and we are pleased to be able to secure it. This acquisition enables the BHC to better plan some of the Town’s long-range future housing initiatives and provides opportunity to use the information gained from the recent Housing Study and the Community Housing Strategy that is now being developed,” he said.
The purpose of the BHC is to help the Town of Banff maintain a healthy and balanced community.
