Terry Fox Run
Sunday, September 19, 2021
The Terry Fox Run is an annual Canada-wide event with hundreds of locally organized events that help to raise money and awareness for cancer research.
The runs are a legacy to Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope that took place in 1980 with the simple objective of informing Canadians of the importance of finding a cure for cancer. With fierce determination, Terry, who was diagnosed with bone cancer, ran an average of 42 kilometres (26 miles) every day for 143 days. Terry was forced to end his run on September 1, 1980 when the cancer spread to his lungs. 2021 will mark the 41st run in Terry’s honour.
