Youth Summer Camps

Our Youth Camps are made for you to get out, get dirty and play hard! Enjoy activities such as kayaking, backpacking, paintball and more!

Registration for 2023 Youth Camp programs will open:

  • Banff residents: 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19
  • Non-residents: 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17
     

Weekly Programs:

Go Big or Go Home July 3–7 
Grades 7-10
Get amped for a week of exploration and excitement. From outdoor adventures to paintball, ending in an overnight campout and surprise trip- you won’t be disappointed!
Location: Drop off & pick up at Banff Elementary School 
Resident $265, Non-resident $324

Go Backcountry July 10-14
Grades 7-10
The mountains are calling and we must go! During this three-night trip, youth will learn the skills and gear needed to explore on foot and camp overnight.   Heading into the stunning Skoki Lake area - this trip is not to be missed! 
Location: Drop off & pick up at Banff Elementary School

Leader In Training (L.I.T) July 17 – July 28
 
Grades 9-11
Includes Training component and Volunteer placement component.
Are you ready to lead? Join the Bow Valley Family Resource Network (BVFRN) and Summer Fun team for this two-week leadership development program. Learn what it takes to program plan, problem solve and work with children on their level. Find your own leadership style in our week of training - then practice your skills as a volunteer leader with the Summer Fun day camp program. All L.I.T. participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the program. 
Note: participants must attend both weeks of the program to receive their certificate; registration limited to youth who have not previously participated in the LIT program.
Location: The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre and Banff Elementary School, schedule TBD

Go Youth July 24-28 
Grades 7-10
A week-long adventure with youth camp! Get ready to be active, play outside, and explore new interests and skills. Enjoy a variety of exciting day trips and activities including a summer campfire on your mid-week campout.
Location: Drop off & pick up at Banff Elementary School 
Resident $265, Non-resident $324

Go Paddle August 14–18 
Grades 8-10
Throw on your splash top and prepare for a week on the water! With the support of professional coaches from the Bow Valley Kayak Club, participants will learn about kayaking equipment; access, navigation and maneuvering of waterways, safe kayak exits and working towards running our first ever rapids! Pre-requisite: Although strong swimming is not necessary, participants must feel confident in deep water. Learning how to be upside-down in a kayak is essential in preparing for river-running. For insurance purposes all registrants must obtain a membership with the Bow Valley Kayak Club. Camp fees have been reduced to accommodate the membership fee.

Camp hours 

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. (hours may fluctuate depending on activities) 

Registration

Please note:

  • Registration requests will be accepted on a first come, first served basis 
  • Registration requests will be accepted by email only - not in person or via phone
  • Registration requests will only be accepted from 8:30a.m. onward on registration day. Those received prior to 8:30a.m. will not be considered.
  • Registration requests are not a confirmed registration. Registrations will be confirmed by Client Services once your registration is processed and receipt received. 

Before you register:

  • If you don’t already have an account, please visit www.banff.ca/register and create an account for you/your family
  • Decide which dates you will need for each child you are registering

To register: 

  • When registration is open to you, please send a registration request to community.services@banff.ca
  • Include in your request:
    1. Your name & child(ren)’s name(s)
    2. One or two phone numbers we can reach you during the daytime on weekdays
    3. Completed Registration Form (PDF) – one per child
    4. Completed Waiver (PDF) – one per child
    5. Medication Form (PDF) if required
  • If you need assistance to fill in these forms, paper copies are available at the client services desk prior to registration. Forms must be filed before registration can be completed.
  • Client services will leave a message if they are unable to connect with you, but will proceed with responding to other registration requests
