Unwanted Item Pickup
Help us keep Banff’s streets garbage free
Don’t illegally dump large items by a garbage bin or on the street. There are free, legal ways for residents to get rid of unwanted items that don’t fit in garbage bins, like furniture or appliances. This service is for residents. Commercial properties and out-of-town visitors are not eligible.
Schedule a Free Pickup Online
You can now schedule a free pickup of any large or unwanted items online.
We will collect almost anything, if you register for pickup, including:
- yard waste
We will even collect household hazardous waste, such as motor oil and old paint, as long as it’s in a sealed and labelled container.
We will NOT pick up anything that was attached to the home, and is therefore considered renovation waste. Items we will NOT pick up includes:
- Deck boards
- Kitchen cabinets
- Scrap wood
- Wall-to-wall carpeting
- Shipping pallets
- household flooring
- Hot water tanks
- Yard waste with branches more than 4 inches thick
- Anything weighing more than 23 kg (50 pounds)
- Excessively large/long items
These items must be brought to the Transfer Station.
The driver has final discretion on what is suitable for pickup, based on this list, collector safety and vehicle capacity.
