From time to time, the Banff Fire Department recruits on-call paid firefighters to join the team. Firefighter duties include responding to emergencies such as:
- Fires
- Medical assistance
- Motor vehicle collisions
- Rescue operations
Minimum Application Requirements
- Must have lived and worked in Banff for at least full one year
- 21 years of age or older
- Grade 12 (or equivalent)
- Class 5 License with abstract
- Pass a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) criminal background check
- Current employer must sign a letter of agreement stating that you can respond to emergencies during business hours
Application Documents
Applicants are also required to pass rigorous physical, and on-going training. Firefighters are expected to work some weekends. Helpful skills include first aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), oxygen therapy and Advanced External Defibrillator (AED) training; experience in the building trades as a plumber, electrician, etc.; and proven ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment.
