The new pavilion building at the Banff Recreation Grounds provides accessible washrooms and a gathering space for local non-profits and Banff residents. The indoor facilities are available for use while the landscaping remains fenced until the landscaping is established. The pavilion is open from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. daily.
A grand opening event will be held this winter coinciding with a skating party to celebrate a new skating rink installed beside the pavilion. The skate-friendly flooring will make the pavilion a great lace to lace up and warm up.
The pavilion has four bathrooms, a kitchenette, gathering room and showers. The exterior bathrooms may be accessed by anyone during operation hours; however, the kitchenette, showers and BBQ amenities are only available for rental from local non-profit organizations and sports teams. The pavilion is not available to rent for private functions, such as weddings or birthday parties, to ensure the space is available to recreation grounds users.

Future plans include the installation of a solar array, pushing the building to near net-zero energy.
Total Project Cost: $3.4 million.
- $3.1 million for the building construction and furnishings
- $100,000 for water and sewer servicing
- $200,000 for landscaping and day use area
