In efforts to help stop the spread of COVID-19, starting November 27th, The Fenlands, 101 Bear and Town Hall will be closed to the public and in-person recreational programs have also been postponed, including those offered by our community partners at those sites. The Town had re-activated the www.banff.ca/active webpage which has up-to-date information and resources for the Banff Public Library, local online classes, ideas and activities to do outdoors with your family and more. 

The Town of Banff’s Out of School Club and Into the Wild afterschool childcare programs continue and are strictly adhering to provincial and municipal COVID-19 safety guidance.  In addition, our Settlement Services team continues to provide online and phone support for clients. To register for afterschool care or to speak to someone from our Settlement team, e-mail community.services@banff.ca or call 403.762.1251.

First Aid

New Blended Online and in-Class Programs 

These Canadian Red Cross First Aid courses are offered as a blended course. Theory learning components are completed through the online portal with skill development and theory application completed in-class. Access to the online portal is made available 7 days prior and must be completed prior to the in-class session. Ages 16+. Ensure you are on a wait list if the course is full at the time you are registering.

Blended Standard First Aid with CPR 
Comprehensive 16 hour course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at work or home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/ territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.

Healing Yoga 
Have the feeling of the never-ending week or wish to have some “me” time before the weekend? Healing Yoga will guide you through gentle movements to support the joints, mindful breath awareness, deep relaxation and bring you to a place where you are encouraged to build resilience. Ages 16+

Core Restore Yoga
This course will introduce exercises from the Tensegrity Back Repair Series, a gentle practice that focuses on "biotensegrity" movement to strengthen the core, re-hydrate fascia and balance the myofascial system. It helps to develop a greater ease of movement, reduces pain and calms the nervous system. Classes will include long held restorative postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation to stretch and soothe the mind-body. Ages 16+.

Gentle Yoga & Meditation
Enter the weekend with ease. Introducing a slower pace class that helps to strengthen and create more flexibility for your body and mind. This is ideal for anyone wanting to release tension throughout the body and practice the art of relaxation through a guided lying down meditation. Ages 16+.

Zero Waste Trailblazers – Upcycling

Banff is a model environmental community where everything we do is guided by a goal to preserve this special place. Reducing and diverting Banff residential waste going to landfill is a community goal that will benefit future generations, and we need everyone on board to make it happen. These fun and interactive workshops will explore different life hacks to get on the Zero Waste Trail, featuring our favourite community champions who are leading the way.

Acrylics for Adults

A beginner art class designed to teach students about the fundamentals of using acrylic paints.
