Construction is underway to replace the Sulphur Mountain Sanitary Sewer Main that serves the three operations on Sulphur Mountain: the Rimrock Hotel, the Sulphur Mountain Gondola, and the Upper Hot Springs.
Construction involves enhancing the access road below the Rimrock Hotel to the utility corridor to enable heavy machinery access. Traffic impact will be minimal at the access point on Mountain Avenue.
Construction of the 1.5 km line is scheduled to be complete by November 2019. The project involves construction on a steep incline and varying ground conditions.
Although the sewer main is located outside the town’s boundary, the Town of Banff owns the line and provides waste water services.
