Mountain Madness Relay
Mountain Madness is a long standing tradition in Banff.
The multi-sport relay starts with a downhill ski leg from the top of Mt Norquay and works its way down to the Bow River via run, ice skate, classic cross-country ski and skate ski segments.
Much of the action takes place on the frozen Bow River, where friends and fans cheer on the athletes of all ages and skill levels.
Teams of five athletes, mostly local entries, take part in the race. The teams strive to out-do each other in coming up with wacky team names, themes and costumes. Some of them also try to go fast.
