Central Park Washrooms Rebuild
Central ParkThe Town of Banff is replacing the current aging washroom building in Central Park with a modern facility in a design-build project. The budget is $700,000. Russell and Russell Design Studios and Bogdan’s Construction was awarded the design-build; both companies are based in Canmore.

The current washroom will remain open until late May or early June, after which it will be demolished to make way for the new children’s nature playground. Public washroom facilities will be made available in the case of any overlap of projects. Expect minor traffic delays within the Central Park parking lot during construction.

  • The construction of the new facility started in September 2014 with foundation excavation and installation
  • The new gas, water and sanitary services were installed in the fall of 2014
  • The walls and roof were erected in December and January.
  • The new LED lights have been chosen, as well as mechanical components, that will be partially funded by the Environmental Reserve
  • In late January, the project experienced a slowdown while design details and critical path were finalized
  • The roofing, triple glazed window glass, and siding were installed and plumbing roughed in during March. Exterior stonework is underway
  • The project remains on time and on budget. Anticipated completion is early June.
