Election 2017
Candidate Registry
TOB_Registration.jpgAnyone who intends to run in this fall's municipal election - for Mayor or Councillor - is required to register with the municipality prior to accepting campaign contributions or contributing personal funds toward their election campaign. This does not apply to a candidate whose entire campaign is funded exclusively out of the candidate's own funds up to a maximum of $10,000.

If you are interested in running for municipal office (mayor or councillor) please complete and file the original  Application for Registration of Notice of Intent to Become a Candidate for Municipal Office Form 3A with the Municipal Clerk's office, either in person or by mail. Prospective candidates need to file their intentions to run in order to raise funds for their campaigns, but do not need to identify what position they plan to run for until they submit their papers on the official nomination day.

Office Location: 110 Bear Street, Banff, Alberta
Mailing Address: Box 1260, Banff, Alberta, T1L 1A1

Changes to any of the information within the registry must be reported to the Municipal Clerk's Office within 48 hours of the change taking effect in writing by mail or electronic mail.  Please be advised that the information contained within the directory is public.

Candidates who would like information relative to campaign contributions can review the Local Authorities Election Act and access Part 5 - Municipal Election and Contribution Disclosure - which begins on page 89 of the Act.

Individuals who file their notice of intent to become candidates are permitted to begin fundraising and receive donations (including their own funds) for their campaign.
