Note: You don’t have to remove labels, but cans should be clean. To minimize cuts and lost lids, it’s best to put the lid into the can and press it shut. Buffet fuel cans are accepted only if completely empty (Cans with fuel should be held until the annual recycling round-up).
Note: Remove all straws, caps and lids, rinse and flatten.
Garbage: plastic containers without a Mobius Loop, foamed plastic such as packing forms and peanuts, single serving condiment containers such as cream, jam, butter, drink ornaments, polystyrene, soiled items, non-beverage Tetra Paks, plastic film, plastic wrap, packaging and food wrappers. Plastic bags are accepted at Banff grocery stores.
Garbage: Padded envelopes, carbon paper, elastic bands, paper clips, metal fasteners, plastic liners and plasticized waxy papers, waxy papers.
Refundable Drink Containers:
Most ready-to-serve beverage containers can be returned to the Banff Bottle Depot for a refund. These
include beverages sold in a bottle, can, pouch or carton made of: glass, metal, plastic (including
milk), foil and aluminum, paper (bag-in-a-box i.e. wine or juice), tetra-brik (drink boxes),
waxed paperboard (i.e. soy/rice milk, orange juice, milk)
