Emergency Social Services
What is Emergency Social Services?
Every municipality is mandated under the Emergency Services Act to provide assistance to evacuees in the event of an emergency or disaster. Emergency Social Services (ESS) is part of the Town of Banff's municipal emergency plan, intended to meet the immediate survival and psychological needs of residents and visitors impacted by an emergency or disaster.

How does Banff ESS help in an emergency?
ESS is responsible for coordinating a reception centre where evacuees can go if they've been displaced from their homes, providing for basic needs such as clothing, food, family reunification, counselling and pet care.

In the event of an emergency, the Town of Banff will post information to the Alert Centre, as well as on its Twitter and Facebook page. You can sign up to receive an email every time an emergency alert is issued through Notify Me.
