Infrastructure Management
Infrastructure Management is a business process and decision-making framework based on the combination of management, financial, economic, engineering, operational and other practices applied to physical assets, to provide the required level of service in the most cost-effective manner. The Town's infrastructure data is recorded in our GIS system

Tangible Capital Assets
Every municipality in Canada must report on the historical cost, amoritization expense and accumulated amoritization. The Town has a complete recording of its TCA. What is a tangible capital asset? Land; Land improvements; Buildings; Engineered structures such as roadways, water systems, Wastewater system, storm water system, machinery and equipment, vehicles and cultural and historical assets.

Infrastructure Deficit
Infrastructure deficit occurs when the amount a municipality has in its capital reserves is lower than the anticipated costs of future replacement of its capital assets. The calculations take inflation and projected interest rates on investments into consideration. Based on our current Infrastructure Deficit Analysis, the Town of Banff looks to be on a solid financial course to address its annual shortfall.
