Energy
Our Community Plan goal is to be an environmental model. With 45% of Alberta's electricity generated by burning coal, it's the second largest greenhouse gas (GHG) emitter in the province, causing 21% of all GHGs in Alberta. We want to reduce our energy consumption and reduce our emissions. We are measuring our electricity and natural gas consumption.
2014 Highlights: The largest photovoltaic panel installation in the Bow Valley, on the roof of Banff Town Hall, generates 17,109 kilowatts in the first year and offsets 16.46 metric tons of C02.
