Public Art
'When I Close My Eyes' by Sheila KernanWhy Public Art
Public Art integrated with its location and the greater environment can animate public spaces and introduce artistic concepts and ideas to the community. Public art builds community vitality, identity, and pride.

New Exhibits
The Banff Community Art Committee is proud to announce the  installation of new public artworks in two different locations in downtown Banff for 2013.

Bear Street Mall
One of Banff's newest pieces of public art, When I Close My Eyes by Shelia Kernan, is mounted on the exterior wall of the Bear Street Mall at 220 Bear Street.

Banff Town Hall
Banff residents helped pick the artwork on the back of Town Hall through an online vote. From three finalists, Raven #2 by Lynne Huras was selected and was on display for 18 months. A jury panel selected the two works. Currently on display is Stuffed Animals by Jennifer Tellier and it will be followed by Love Is Touching Souls by Roselina Hung.
For more information and details about the pieces, please refer to the Banff Town Hall Exhibition.

Town of Banff Community Art Committee
The seven members of the Community Art Committee represent a cross-section of Banff. The committee receives annual funding from the Town of Banff to facilitate public art installations. More information on the committee, and how to apply.
