The Basement is a new youth drop-in centre below the Banff Canmore Community Foundation. It’s a space where youth can hang out, play games, do homework, work on art projects, create music, or just socialize. There are board games, foosball, shuffleboard, instruments, books, WiFi and a popcorn machine. There will be weekly activities – rock climbing, skateboarding, bowling and more. Healthy snacks available daily. This program is generously supported by the Pauw Foundation. For Grades 7-10.

The Sally Borden Building at the Banff Centre is home to a 25-metre pool, hot tub, wading pool and steam room. Lifejackets are provided at no charge. You can rent towels, purchase swim diapers and other aquatic accessories. Public swimming is supported in part by the Town of Banff. Pool schedules are subject to change. Broga is vinyasa flow yoga for men and people who identify as men. This is a slower-paced yoga practice combined with longer holds. All abilities welcome. For ages 16+. No registration required. In February 2017, Parks Canada began a 5-year pilot project to reintroduce North America’s largest land mammal (bison) to Canada’s first national park (Banff). Join Karsten Heuer for some behind-the-scenes stories of the effort to restore this iconic animal to a place where it’s been missing for 140+ years. Karsten Heuer is the Bison Reintroduction Project Manager for Banff National Park, a job he describes as the “most stimulating” in a 25-year career as a Park Warden and biologist in Alberta and the Yukon. He is also an award-winning author, known for his wildlife-inspired journeys undertaken with his documentary filmmaking wife, Leanne Allison (e.g. Being Caribou, Walking the Big Wild, Finding Farley).
