  1. Avalanche Skill Training Level 1

    November 26, 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM

    This two-day introduction teaches you to safely travel through avalanche terrain. The first day consists of lectures on the characteristics of avalanches, the mountain snowpack, avalanche terrain and backcountry travel, as well as using avalanche transceivers. The second day is spent in the field (in the Bow Summit area) to cover how weather, snowpack and terrain interact to create avalanches and how to avoid them. This course is based on the standards set by the Canadian Avalanche Centre and a certificate of completion is awarded to those who attend. Register online at banff.ca/register or call 403.762.1251.

    Join a group of adults 55+ every Monday at noon. The first and the third Monday Lunch is at a local restaurant and cost is standard menu pricing. The second and fourth Monday Lunch is served at 101 Bear Street in the Pioneer Room and lunch costs is $6. No registration is required. Call 403.762.1251 for restaurant locations.

  4. The Basement – Youth Drop-in

    November 26, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Banff Canmore Community Foundation

    The Basement is a new youth drop-in centre below the Banff Canmore Community Foundation. It’s a space where youth can hang out, play games, do homework, work on art projects, create music, or just socialize. There are board games, foosball, shuffleboard, instruments, books, WiFi and a popcorn machine. There will be weekly activities – rock climbing, skateboarding, bowling and more. Healthy snacks available daily. This program is generously supported by the Pauw Foundation. For Grades 7-10.

  5. Drop-in Public Swimming

    November 26, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Sally Borden Building, Banff Centre

    The Sally Borden Building at the Banff Centre is home to a 25-metre pool, hot tub, wading pool and steam room. Lifejackets are provided at no charge. You can rent towels, purchase swim diapers and other aquatic accessories. Public swimming is supported in part by the Town of Banff.     The Town of Banff Governance and Finance Committee reviews financial policies, financial statements, fees and charges and the Financial Plan. Meetings are held in the council chamber and are open to the public. The Mayor and Town Councillors are the sole members of the committee. This is a Service Review meeting.
