  1. Avalanche Skills Training (AST) Level 1

    December 13, 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM @ Meeting Room 1 at The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre

    Take your safety into your own hands. This course is essential for anyone venturing into the backcountry. Avalanches claim the lives of many every year. Be prepared and learn the basics of avalanche safety. Skills covered included using avalanche beacon and transceivers, assessing snow packs, route finding, and more. Day one will be classroom, day 2 in the field. Certificate will be issued at the end of the course. Cost includes: 2 days of instruction, books, use of safety and snow study equipment, and transportation to field location. An AST 1 certificate will be issued on successful completion.* You will need to bring adequate clothing and equipment for a backcountry ski tour (or snowshoes).

  2. BanffLIFE Pasta Night

    Try It yoga classes are for residents who've never tried yoga before and would like to start. This gentle beginner practice is a great way to start your day and be introduced to the world of yoga. Mats, props and instruction is provided on a drop-in basis.

    December 13, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

    Drop in and Learn to Curl at The Fenlands. Instructors will be available to teach you the basics of curling, like how to shoot your stone, how to use your broom, and where you want to get to in the house. Brooms, sliders and grippers are provided. Bring clean indoor shoes, stretchy or loose-fitting pants a warm jackets and gloves. Be sure to be on time, space is limited.
