Wildfire Update from Parks Canada - Sept. 20, 8:34 a.m.

As of September 20, 2017, the following areas are open:
Banff National Park:
  • Ball Pass area; and 
  • some trails leading to Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, including the trails south from Summit of Allenby Pass, including Og Pass Trail, Hikers Bypass Trail, Horse Trail, and Wonder Pass Trail. 
Kootenay National Park: 
  • Hawk Creek area, including the trail to Ball Pass 
These areas remain closed due to the Verdant Creek fire:
Banff National Park:
  • Fatigue Creek and Citadel Pass area; 
  • access to Talc Lake and Red Earth Pass 
Kootenay National Park:
  • Verdant Creek and Simpson River area
