SnowDays Festival

Thursday, January 18

The annual SnowDays Festival is a highlight of the winter season in Banff. This free, 11-day long celebration, is centered around massive snow sculptures in downtown Banff.

The annual SnowDays festival is a highlight of the winter season in Banff National Park -- a free 11-day long celebration in January, centered around 10 massive snow sculptures in downtown Banff. Occurring at the same time as the Ice Magic Festival in Lake Louise, you’ll have plenty of winter creations to explore throughout the park. Don't miss these two special events during SnowDays:

Date: January 27 & 28
Time: 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Location: Banff High School Field

The laughter that comes of sliding on snow is something that everyone should have the chance to experience. SkiBig3 invites kids of all ages to get outside and try out the sport skiing! Join certified instructors from SkiBig3 as they provide the expertise and all the equipment necessary to learn the basics of skiing on a mini-slope in downtown Banff, at the Banff High School Field. Snow isn’t just for skiing, tubes from Mt Norquay are also available for extra sliding. After your turn, celebrate with cup hot chocolate and a tasty treat. This event is free and open to all ages. Ski equipment is available for kids only.

Date: January 27
Time: 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Location: Banff Train Station

Bundle up and venture into the wilderness in the evening with a Parks Canada guide. Come prepared to experience the wonder and cold of the season as you search for signs of Banff’s winter wildlife. Meet at the Banff Train Station then walk along Fenland Trail. Register in person with Parks Canada Visitor Centre staff (on Banff Avenue) by 12 p.m. the day of the walk. Group size is limited to 12 participants. Headlamps will be provided during the walks.

Road Closure
Bear Street will be closed between the entrance of the Brewster’s Mountain Lodge parkade and the 200 block parking lot starting Monday, January 15. The street will re-open on Tuesday, January 29. Access to the 200 block parking lot and Brewster’s Mountain Lodge parking will not be affected.
