Banff Gallery Hop

Saturday, May 18

Celebrate art in Banff with the Banff Gallery Hop. Visit galleries in town and hop on the art bus. The free art bus goes to outlying venues departing the Whyte Museum every 30 minutes on the hour and the half hour. Our Art Ambassador riding the bus this week is Michale Lang. She has worked for museums and historic sites large and small throughout Alberta. Her knowledge of the history of Alberta is deep and diverse. Join Michale on the Art Bus, ask questions and take advantage of her knowledge of our beautiful and creative mountain town.

BUFFALO NATIONS MUSEUM Join traditional storytellers for a tea party featuring Indigenous teas from nearby nations. Sample herbal teas and some fresh baked bannock with jams. From 2 – 5 pm, the stories will be about the land, plants, animals, and people.

CANADA HOUSE GALLERY Artist Sheila Kernan - Sheila Kernan's juicy brushstrokes dash across broad vibrant canvasses evoking the energy of the city, the pride of the mountains, and broad skies of prairies. Come and see Sheila's refreshing collection and discover where this adventurous artist has been inspired by this year...

CARTER-RYAN GALLERY Jason Carter is a proud contemporary, Indigenous artist from Little Red River Cree Nation. He is a sculptor, painter, illustrator, public artist, and graphic designer. Join Jason as he works in the gallery.

Join us in the garden to learn about the local flora and fauna with a bee expert. Flowery tea tasting samples from the Banff tea company. Honey based mead tasting.

MOUNTAIN GALLERIES at The Fairmont Artist in Residence - Contemporary Furniture Designer Arnt Arntzen was born in 1958 and raised in North Vancouver, BC. His interest in metal was born when he and his father built a 36 foot steel schooner in the backyard. Arnts’ first sculptures were created from the scrap pieces of metal. His interest in design and woodcraft continued to develop as he took on projects renovating vintage houses.

WHYTE MUSEUM of the CANADIAN ROCKIES Artist Talk - Artist Carl White speaks to his work featured in the exhibition Carl White: Carousel. Find out more about how he combines fundamentals to shape compelling, historic painterly references in coexistence with poetically nuanced contemporary impressions. WILLOCK & SAX GALLERY GLACIERS AND LAKES - RITUAL AND CONSERVATION - The theme of glaciers and lakes has spurred Sean Kunz to produce a series of pots specifically related to water, its conservation, and its use.
