  1. Lake Canoeing - Introduction

    June 24, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM @ Two Jack Lake

    A basic course on lake canoeing, you’ll learn about different types of canoes and paddles, the proper way to carry a canoe from the car to the lake, how to launch a canoe, and the skills for turning, propulsion and stabilization. Get great safety tips while going through exercises, drills and games. Each two paddlers will require a canoe equipped with 3 paddles, a bailer, and 15 metres of heaving line. Each paddler will require a Transport Canada-approved life jacket, warm clothes, a change of clothes, a rain coat, water and lunch. Instructors: Jim Olver and Jim Buckingham. Register by June 19.

  2. Historic Home & Garden Tours

    June 24, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Historic Luxton Home

    Open weekly Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and holiday Mondays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 19 - October 1, the Historic Luxton Home tells the story of a Banff family - Norman Luxton, Georgina McDougall Luxton and their daughter Eleanor. The museum features a glimpse into the life of this amazing family and of Banff over a period of nine decades. You will see collections of First Nations artifacts, paintings, china, furniture and more. The Luxton Garden is also part of our historic footprint, with 120 year old lilac trees and a garden designed in the Arts and Craft Style ca. 1910. On weekends in July and August bring a coffee or picnic with the family and try a game of croquet.

  5. Try Lake Canoeing

    June 27, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Two Jack Lake

    Learn the basics of lake canoeing in this free Try-It program. You'll learn everything from launching a canoe in the water to paddling skills. Get safety tips while going through exercises, drills and games. This will be held at Two Jack Lake, so bring warm clothes, a change of clothes in case you get wet, a snack, full water bottle, sunscreen and sunglasses. This is open to everyone ages 13 and up. Participants who are 13-15 years old must be accompanied in the canoe with an adult. Instructors: Jim Olver and Jim Buckingham. Register by June 16.

  6. Try Yoga - Wednesday

    If you have never tried yoga and would like to get into a practice, this Try It Yoga class is for you. This gentle beginner practice is a great way to start your day and be introduced to the world of yoga The Town of Banff’s community Try It yoga classes provide you with time to recharge and stretch your body and mind. Feel the energy as you lay your mat alongside members of your community. Our classes can be as challenging or as gentle as you want. Mats, props and instruction is provided on a drop-in basis.
