Banff's Special Events

  1. Halloween Bonfire and Fireworks

    October 31, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Banff Recreation Grounds

    Join us for this annual family-friendly Halloween event, sponsored by the Banff Firefighters Association in partnership with the Town of Banff. Enjoy free hot dogs and hot chocolate by the bonfire and stick around for the fireworks at 8 p.m. Don't forget to wear your costumes! Walk down to the event and be sure to carry a flashlight and wear reflective clothing. Keep your pets at home if they are nervous around loud noises.

  1. Finance Committee

    The Town of Banff Finance Committee reviews financial policies, financial statements, fees and charges and the Financial Plan. Meetings are held in the Council Chamber and are open to the public. The Mayor and Town Councillors are the sole members of the Finance Committee.

    A free public swim sponsored by the Town of Banff is held the last Sunday of every month at The Banff Centre's Sally Borden pool from 1-4 p.m.

  2. Get Out Family Drop-in Gym

    October 26, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Banff Community High School

    Bring your entire family to the BCHS gymnasium on Sunday nights and get active together. Play games like soccer, basketball, badminton or challenge your neighbours to a game of floor hockey. We invite you to bring your family and friends and come and play!

  9. Learn to Skate

    October 30, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM @ The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre

    Would you like the chance to improve on your skating skills and learn basic techniques for turning, crossovers and ways to increase your speed and power? Come and join Carol as she helps to boost your skating confidence while having tons of fun! Protective helmet is required. No drop-in available. Must register for the 6 week program.

  10. Powerskating

    October 30, 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM @ The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre

    An advanced skating class designed to improve skating skills for hockey. The classes will emphasize balance, edge control, quick starts and stops, turning, and strong forward and backward skating techniques. Come join us to improve your hockey conditioning – or just to enjoy skating and get a good workout! Pre-requisite is the ability to skate forward and backward and stop. Full hockey equipment is required. No Drop-in. Participant must register for 6 week program.

  11. Checkmate

    October 30, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ 101 Bear Street

    Play chess in a safe and comfortable environment. These evenings will provide beginners with an opportunity to learn the basics of chess; from your opening move to checkmate. Intermediate to advanced players are encouraged to come as well to further your game strategy and play against new opponents for a more challenging game. Everyone welcome!
