    The Town of Banff is the perfect place to celebrate Canada's birthday on July 1. Fantastic family-friendly events run throughout the day, including our famous parade down Banff Avenue. From bands to balloon animals to birthday cake, we've got it all. The full-day celebrations are capped off with a spectacular evening fireworks display.

    The Luxton Home tells the story of a Banff family - Norman Luxton, Georgina McDougall Luxton and their daughter Eleanor. A family of pioneers: Norman sailed in a dugout canoe from Canada to Australia in 1901; Georgina is on record as the first white person born in Alberta in the 1870's; and Eleanor designed locomotive engines for the CPR in the 1940's. The Home Museum features a glimpse into the life of this amazing family and of Banff over a period of 90 decades. Inside you will see collections of First Nations artifacts, paintings, china, furniture and more. The Luxton Garden is also a slice if history with 100 year old lilac trees and a garden designed in the Arts and Craft Style, it is a delightful place to enjoy throughout the summer - bring a picnic, bring a coffee and a newspaper, come enjoy the garden and the house.
