    Mark the centenary of the Great War with friends from Signal Hill National Historic Site. Be a soldier for a day. March alongside others in First World War uniform. Learn about Banff’s connections to the war, both overseas and on the home front.

  9. Drawn to Nature Watercolours

    August 8, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Cave and Basin National Historic Site

    Partnering with Parks Canada, the Walter Phillips Gallery presents this popular series of watercolour classes at the Cave and Basin National Historic Site. Led by gallery team members and artists, participants of all ages and levels of experience are invited to draw and paint outdoors at the newly renovated historic site.   11. Mountain Movie Mash-up: Deep Powder Paradise

    August 8, 10:00 PM @ Cave and Basin National Historic Site

    Join us for another late night movie mash-up presented by mountaineering legend and historian Chic Scott. Classic footage by filmmaker and mountain pioneer Hans Gmoser and local filmmaker Adam Greenberg. Backcountry skiing at its highest and finest! Rain or moon-shine (Indoors if raining.) Bring a blanket or chair. Café is open serving popcorn, beer, wine and snacks.

  12. Doors Open Banff

    August 9, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Around Banff

    Visit Banff's oldest and most significant pieces of built heritage. There are a multitude of historic properties to see including a number of Peter and Catharine Whyte Foundation properties such as: the McGinn residence, Mary Schäffer's Tarry-a-while, the Windy and Mather Cabins and the Whyte and Moore homes. Maps of participating properties can be picked up at the Whyte Museum.

  13. Louis Trono Big Band Concert

    GranFondo Banff is a 150km mass cycling event through Banff National Park. The ride begins and ends in Central Park, and runs along Lake Minnewanka Road, the Bow Valley Parkway and Bow Avenue.

    2.4 km one way; 260 m elevation gain; 2 hour round trip Trailhead: Located on St. Julien Road near The Banff Centre. Climb to the summit of a mountain in the heart of the Banff townsite! Although less daunting than the surrounding peaks, Tunnel Mountain still provides breathtaking views of the Bow Valley via a series of well-graded switchbacks. This trail can be icy in spring and fall. These programs are specifically and exclusively for local young adults (18 - 30 years). You must be living or working in the Bow Valley to participate in any of these programs.

  6. HIKE: Ice Line Trail

    This classic alpine hike is a MUST do while you are in the Rockies! This is Christine's favorite hike; it is full of wonderful views, waterfalls, glaciers, alpine lakes and meadows. It is truly an amazing day hike with many up and down, the bulk of the day is spent above the trees looking out at the wonders of Yoho National Park. Rating: Strenuous. Distance: 20.4 km, Elevation: 720 m These Mountain Adventure Programs (MAP) are specifically and exclusively for local young adults (18 - 30 years). You must be living or working in the Bow Valley to participate in any of these programs.

  11. SCRAMBLE: Mount Temple

    August 11, 5:00 AM - 7:00 PM @ Banff Town Hall

    Mount Temple is the highest and most famous peak in the Lake Louise area. This is a must-do climb for anyone who has enjoyed longer hikes or any of the other peaks in our Scrambles series. Temple is 3543 m high and is a long climb but not very difficult technically. The climbing is about 8 km long and 1700 m elevation gain. You can expect a 12 hour day. These Mountain Adventure Programs (MAP) are specifically and exclusively for local young adults (18 - 30 years). You must be living or working in the Bow Valley to participate in any of these programs.

  14. Via Ferrata North of Lake Louise

    August 12, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Banff Town Hall

    Italian for "iron road", and a course of iron ladder rungs and steel cables attached to a cliff face. Follow certified guide Kris Irwin and the Iron Road up a 180m rock face north of Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies. Enjoy the rush of being in the alpine and high off the valley floor while being attached to steel cables using lanyards and a harness. Designed for people of all ages and all experience levels. Guide, transportation and equipment provided.

    Rock Intro is a one-day introduction to rock climbing.     August 20, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Banff Town Hall

    We will follow a series of switchbacks up to Tower Lake then we tackle very steep switchbacks for about 15 minutes. This brings us to Rockbound Lake. A waterfall can be seen from the back side of the lake. This hike offers fantastic views, alpine meadows and a great day in the Canadian Rockies. Rating: Moderate Distance: 17 km. Elevation Gain: 760 m These Mountain Adventure Programs (MAP) are specifically and exclusively for local young adults (18 - 30 years). You must be living or working in the Bow Valley to participate in any of these programs.
