  5. HIKE: Wenkchemna Falls

    Wenkchemna Pass trail from the Moraine Lake trail head, we work our way up what seems an endless amount of switchbacks towards Larch Valley. Views of the "Valley of 10 Peaks" are absolutely stunning and well worth the effort. This is one of the most scenic hikes in the area. When you reach the top of the pass, you'll find yourself standing on the continental divide looking west towards British Columbia. Rating: Difficult. Distance: 19.6 km Elevation: 720 m These Mountain Adventure Programs (MAP) are specifically and exclusively for local young adults (18 - 30 years). You must be living or working in the Bow Valley to participate in any of these programs.

    Rock Intro is a one-day introduction to rock climbing. The Canadian Rockies is the perfect spot to experience and begin learning about this sport, as there are literally thousands of climbs within an hour's drive from Banff. There are a variety of areas we can climb on this course. Your guide will choose the best venue for the weather and the group. These Mountain Adventure Programs (MAP) are specifically and exclusively for local young adults (18 - 30 years).     In late September the yellow larches along this trail are an awesome sight. there are nice meadows at the top of the pass, which has views of the peaks around you (Valley of the 10 Peaks). Rating: Moderate Distance: 18 k, Elevation: 720 m 10 - 12 hours. These Mountain Adventure Programs (MAP) are specifically and exclusively for local young adults (18 - 30 years).     The Banff Public Library Board is appointed by council and oversees the operation of Banff's public library. Meetings are held in the library board room on the second Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m.

  3. Community Art Committee

    The Banff Community Art Committee advises council on opportunities to acquire and place public art throughout the town. The committee meets bi-monthly on the third Tuesday of every other month.

    The Banff Housing Corporation board meets the third Wednesday of every month at 8:30 a.m. at Banff Town Hall.

    The Banff Heritage Corporation works toward the the protection, preservation, enhancement and promotion of Banff’s built heritage. The corporation meets bi-monthly on the third Thursday of every other month at 1:30 p.m in Banff Town Hall. Meetings are open to the public.

  3. Emergency First Aid

    Basic life support skills for those with easy access to emergency medical services. Focus is on casualty assessment, airway management, control of bleeding, and prevention of further injury until medical help is available. Occupational Health & Safety-approved. Fee includes manual and wallet card which will be provided upon successful completion.

  4. Standard First Aid

    September 5, 8:30 AM - September 6, 5:30 PM @ The Fenlands - Meeting Room 1

    Life support skills for the emergency responder, designed for those who may have a delayed response to Emergency Medical Services or who work in an industrial or high-risk activity setting. An opportunity to increase your knowledge regarding an A.E.D. (Automatic External Defibrillator) may exist at the end of the course. Occupational Health & Safety-approved course. Fee includes manual and wallet card provided upon successful completion.

  7. Breathe Easy - Guided Meditation

    Feeling short on energy and need to recharge? Allow yourself the opportunity to become grounded and re-balanced through a series of four calming, yet empowering guided meditations. The four sessions will include; Re-Charge, Love, Cleanse and Release. Feel the stress of the day melt away as you are taken on journeys to distant lands and sacred spaces deep within your mind in a safe, supportive environment. Each session begins with a short introduction and prelude to the meditation and is accompanied by a relaxing music selection that resonates with the vibration of the session in a warm, safe space. All sessions are followed by a share as you wish discussion.

    An advanced skating class designed to improve skating skills for hockey. The classes will emphasize balance, edge control, quick starts and stops, turning, and strong forward and backward skating techniques. Come join us to improve your hockey conditioning – or just to enjoy skating and get a good workout! Pre-requisite is the ability to skate forward and backward and stop. Full hockey equipment is required.

    Come to this information session and have all your program-related questions answered. The Community Helpers program focuses on the necessary skills to teach you how to help others in your life that may be experiencing difficult times. You will be able to learn more about the program’s outline and find out the date of the next Community Helpers Training session. You will walk away knowing how you can become one of over 200 Community Helpers trained in the Bow Valley. Community Helpers is a mental health awareness program delivered all over the Province of Alberta, funded by Alberta Health Services.     Relax, recover your balance and move with the flow. People of all ages and physical conditions can benefit with this ancient Chinese discipline. Tai Chi is all about focusing in the present time and finding inner peace by letting energy move through our bodies. Beginners will learn fundamentals in an easy, self-paced class. Students with prior experience will also enjoy and benefit from the class.

  23. Tai Chi Continuation

    Relax, recover your balance and move with the flow. This continuation class is designed for those who have been practicing Tai Chi with Jane or who have taken an introductory Tai Chi class within the past two years. The focus of this session will be moving forward, learning and practicing all 108 moves in the set.

  24. Reiki - Level 1

    Reiki (ray-key) is Japanese for Universal Life Force Energy, a gentle healing technique for reducing stress and enhancing each person's natural healing abilities. Reiki can be applied to oneself or used to treat others. This course will include discussion and hands-on experience and you will receive a Reiki attunement, which is often a powerful healing experience in itself. You will also receive a manual and certificate upon completion. Please bring a blanket, pillow, journal and drinking water.

  25. How Levels of Canadian Government Work

    This information session will help you understand how municipal, provincial and federal government works; who is responsible for what, how they are funded, how people can get involved and how to be informed. Presenters include Mayor Karen Sorensen and Banff Community High School staff.
