Learn the basics of the sport, and get introduced to a whole new world of winter adventure! In a small group you will learn from some of the best climbers/ACMG guides in the Valley. No experience necessary. Cost includes: 1 day of instruction, use of group technical equipment, use of personal climbing equipment (helmet, harness and belay devise) and transportation to climbing site.

    Join our wonderful guide, Kris Irwin on this overnight ice climbing adventure! We head north early Monday morning and spend the day learning and playing on frozen waterfalls along the Ice Field Parkway. That evening we get cozy at the Rampart Creek Hostel, enjoy a delicious dinner and a warm fire. Waking up Tuesday morning to head out and climb some more! This Mountain Adventure Program is available to young adults (18 - 30 years), living and working in the Bow Valley.

  15. Avalanche Skills Training (AST) Level 1

    March 28, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Meeting Room 1 at The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre

    This Mountain Adventure Program is available to young adults (18 - 30 years), living and working in the Bow Valley. Take your safety into your own hands. This course is essential for anyone venturing into the backcountry. Avalanches claim the lives of many every year. Be prepared and learn the basics of avalanche safety. Skills covered included using avalanche beacon and transceivers, assessing snow packs, route finding, and more. Day one will be classroom, day 2 in the field. Certificate will be issued at the end of the course. Cost includes: 2 days of instruction, books, use of safety and snow study equipment, and transportation to field location. An AST 1 certificate will be issued on successful completion.* You will need to bring adequate clothing and equipment for a backcountry ski tour (or snowshoes).

    The Banff Community Art Committee advises council on opportunities to acquire and place public art throughout the town. The committee meets bi-monthly on the third Tuesday of every other month.

  4. Banff Housing Corporation Board

    The Banff Housing Corporation board meets the third Wednesday of every month at 8:30 a.m. at Banff Town Hall.

  5. Banff Heritage Corporation

    March 19, 1:30 PM @ Banff Town Hall

    The Banff Heritage Corporation works toward the the protection, preservation, enhancement and promotion of Banff’s built heritage. The corporation meets bi-monthly on the third Thursday of every other month at 1:30 p.m in Banff Town Hall. Meetings are open to the public.

  6. Finance Committee

    The Town of Banff Finance Committee reviews financial policies, financial statements, fees and charges and the Financial Plan. Meetings are held in the Council Chamber and are open to the public. The Mayor and Town Councillors are the sole members of the Finance Committee.

  7. Emergency First Aid and Level C CPR Course

    Basic life support skills for those with easy access to emergency medical services. Focus is on casualty assessment, airway management, control of bleeding, and prevention of further injury until medical help is available. Occupational Health & Safety approved. Fees include manual. Certificate provided upon successful completion.

  8. Standard First Aid and Level C CPR Course

    March 24, 8:30 AM - March 25, 5:30 PM @ The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre - Meeting Room 1

    Life support skills for the emergency responder, designed for those who may have a delayed response to emergency medical services or who work in an industrial or high risk environment. An opportunity to increase your knowledge regarding an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) may exist at the end of the course. Occupational Health & Safety approved course. Fee includes manual. Certificate and wallet card provided upon successful completion.
