  1. Melissa's Road Race

    September 27, 10:30 AM @ Around Banff

    This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Melissa's Road Race. Runners participate in either a 10km or 21km race around Banff, starting and finishing in the Rec Grounds.

Are you interested in getting the scoop on Banff and what it means to be a local! Get your BA the Banff way and join us for this free 1 hour presentation, and get access to Part Two of the program including a passport worth over $600 to experience the park!

  2. HIKE: Larch Valley

    September 23, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

    Probably the most photographed peak in the Canadian Rockies. 17 k, 1300 elevation gain, 10 - 12 hours. These Mountain Adventure Programs (MAP) are specifically and exclusively for local young adults (18 - 30 years). You must be living or working in the Bow Valley to participate in any of these programs.

  3. Tuesday Night Yoga

    This traditional approach to yoga encourages proper breathing, flexibility, strength and vitality in the body while calming the mind. This practice can benefit anyone, and yoga is a fun way to get seriously chilled out! NO YOGA the 4th Tuesday of every month

  4. Via Ferrata North of Lake Louise

    September 25, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM @ Banff Town Hall

    Via Ferrata - Italian for 'iron road", and a course of iron ladder rungs and steel cables attached to a cliff face. Follow certified guide Kris Irwin and the Iron Road up a 180 m rock face north of Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies. Enjoy the rush of being in the alpine and high off the valley floor while being attached to steel cables using lanyards and a harness. Designed for people of all experience levels. Guide, transportation and all equipment provided. These Mountain Adventure Programs (MAP) are specifically and exclusively for local young adults (18 - 30 years).   5. Monday Night Paddle on the Bow

    Canoeing on the Bow River is the quintessential Canadian activity, a peaceful way to explore Banff National Park! BanffLIFE will be heading out every Monday night to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Bow River. We would love it if you would join us. BanffLIFE programs are specifically and exclusively for local young adults (18 - 30 years). You must be living or working in the Bow Valley to participate in any of these programs.

    The Banff Heritage Corporation works toward the the protection, preservation, enhancement and promotion of Banff’s built heritage. The corporation meets bi-monthly on the third Thursday of every other month at 1:30 p.m in Banff Town Hall. Meetings are open to the public.

    Play chess in a safe and comfortable environment. These evenings will provide beginners with an opportunity to learn the basics of chess; from your opening move to checkmate. Intermediate to advanced players are encouraged to come as well to further your game strategy and play against new opponents for a more challenging game. Everyone welcome!

  5. Reiki - Level 1

    September 20, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Meeting Room 2 at The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre

    Reiki (ray-key) is Japanese for Universal Life Force Energy, a gentle healing technique for reducing stress and enhancing each person's natural healing abilities. Reiki can be applied to oneself or used to treat others. This course will include discussion and hands-on experience and you will receive a Reiki attunement, which is often a powerful healing experience in itself. You will also receive a manual and certificate upon completion. Please bring a blanket, pillow, journal and drinking water.

  6. Get Out Family Drop-in Gym

    September 21, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Banff Community High School

    Bring your entire family to the BCHS gymnasium on Sunday nights and get active together. Play games like soccer, basketball, badminton or challenge your neighbours to a game of floor hockey. We invite you to bring your family and friends and come and play!

  7. Working with Dogs

    September 21, 7:15 PM - 8:15 PM @ Banff Scout/Guide Hall

    Instructor Yvonne Spence will go through loose leash walking, recall exercises and more in this class for dogs of all breeds and ages. Dogs must be fully vaccinated to take part.

  8. Tai Chi

    September 22, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Meeting Room 2 at The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre

    Relax, recover your balance, and move with the flow. People of all ages and physical conditions can benefit from this ancient Chinese discipline. Tai Chi is all about focusing in the present time and finding inner peace by letting energy move through our bodies. Beginners will learn fundamentals in an easy, self-paced class. Students with prior experience will also enjoy and benefit from the class.

    Join Tara Newbigging for a fun midday Re-booT. This class will get you moving, thinking and mentally stimulated by constantly changing things up. Each week will challenge you to move your body using many different techniques. There will be body weight exercises, equipment exercises and mental challenges that will engage you to connect mind, body and soul.

We will discuss: setting and reaching your financial goals, why it's important to start saving/investing early, taking control of your debt, planning for retirement and life insurance: what it's for and who needs it.

    Learn about the upcoming safeTALK workshop by attending this 30-minute information session. safeTALK alerts one to warning signs indicating risk of suicide. The workshop emphasizes the importance of recognizing the signs, communicating with the person at risk and getting help or resources for the person at risk. The safeTALK workshop is a three-hour certificate course. For more information on this course or other suicide prevention workshops, please contact Yvonne Law at yvonne.law@banff.ca

    Flex your creative muscles with Entangled Puppetry and create simple and delightful hand puppets. In this one and a half hour family workshop everyone will have the opportunity to build and decorate their own puppet and bring their creations to life.
